Satisfy those Irish urges welling up inside of you with beer as soon as possible! Today is the day when everyone can be proud of their Irish heritage (except, naturally, the Irish who are embarrassed for you all day).

Eat a leprechaun, smoke 4-leaf clovers, and come drink a few beers to celebrate your man Saint Patrick who brings you great gifts once a year! Oh, no, I was confused. Saint Patrick: the guy responsible for spreading the great joys of catholicism to all (rather, most) corners of Ireland - and gives you yet another great excuse to get drunk!

Brooklyn Local 1 now meeting at the Gate

Workers unite - then drink beer. Especially because we've got Brooklyn's newest fine brew for your enjoyment. It's hard work but we're here for you. Here's how they describe it on their website:

In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we forge barley malt and hops from Germany, aromatic raw sugar from Mauritius and yeast from Belgium into our latest beer, Brooklyn Local 1.

Behind the full golden color you'll find an alluring aroma, a dynamic complex of flavors, Belgian flair, Brooklyn fortitude and a dusting of our "special" yeast. To create this beer we use the old technique of 100% bottle re-fermentation, a practice now rare even in Europe. It gives this beer a palate of unusual depth. (9.0% ABV)

Belgium and Brooklyn - seems like a good reason to unionize. Now work on lifting that glass off the table and to your lips to discover immediate rewards.

Sierra Update!

We have seen more light. The clocks going back in March, BEFORE St. Pats and the head is spinning. We added Sierra Nevada Crystal Wheat and Sierra Blonde Ale to the dark, brooding, wintry mix we had planned. We will most certainly be out on the deck. Shorts? Tee shirts??! Bobby

The Southern Tier IPA is getting impatient. And the Magic Hat Mardi Gras has been partying alone in the coldbox for the last week. I'm glad I gave up NOT DRINKING for Lent.

Remember: the Sierra Nevadas tower over Park Slope on Thursday March 15 during our Sierra Nevada Triple Event! Get your snowshoes ready - but leave the toga at home, thank you.

Sierra Nevada Triple Event!

On Thursday, March 15th we will be kicking off the dread St. Patrick's Day weekend without green beer, large hats or silly cheek decals. We will be tapping several lines of Sierra Nevada's Best and little-seen brews. The pour will feature the Brooklyn kickoff / debut of Sierra Nevada's Belgian Style Triple! Also on tap will be Stout, Rauchbier, Schwarzbier and Scotch Ale. Hell, we'll throw in some cheese and crackers as well. Happy NOT St. Pats to all and to all a good night!
